Post the release of Soorarai Pottru, which is due for a 2020 first-half release actor Suriya will be teaming up with Vetrimaaran as reported earlier. An official announcement on the team-up was made over the weekend by producer Thanu of V Creations who took to twitter to write: 

After the tremendous success of Asuran, director @VetriMaaran will be teaming up with @Suriya_offl
for the first time in #Suriya40 @theVcreations is happy and proud to produce this film.

Suriya 40 is said to be based on a novel and an official announcement on the rest of the cast and crew is expected to be followed soon.
