Vijay's Bigil which hit the screens on October 25 for the Diwali weekend turned out to be a huge money spinner at the Box Office across the globe. The film has grossed Rs. 100 cr in TamilNadu at the end of this first week. The news has been confirmed by Bigil distributor Sundar Arumugam in an interview to a leading daily. He also had said that the film has been profitable for everyone in the value chain.

Sundar Arumugam's Screen Scene Media Entertainment had bagged the theatrical rights for Bigil in Tamil Nadu for Rs. 72 cr. The TN theatrical rights of the film was sold to distributors across the State for Rs. 85 cr. The film having pocketed Rs. 100 cr in its first week, it has to fetch another Rs. 40 - 45 cr to achieve the break-even mark in the state. The film's pre-release business including theatrical and non-theatrical rights were done for Rs. 200 cr. Bigil has grossed around Rs. 210 cr worldwide in its first week.

Bigil marks Vijay's third consecutive film after Mersal and Sarkar to have crossed Rs. 100 cr mark in TamilNadu and over Rs. 200 cr worldwide. The film is expected to continue its steady run over the second weekend as well. The film which has turned out to be a hit in Kerala and Rest of India is likely to enter profit zone in Telugu states, Karnataka and overseas market in its second week.
