In a milestone achievement for itself and an overall achievement for Tamil films, Atlee directed Bigil which stars Vijay in the lead became the first Tamil movie to release in Egypt since the 2010 return of Indian movies to the theaters of the Arab republic.

Tamil fans all over are hailing this as a path for Tamil films too to enter the untouched country, where once Indian films were so popular that laws had to be introduced for local movies to do well.

Egypt which had once played host to a bevy of Indian movies stopped consuming the content for a period of 15 years until 2010. This was due to reasons such as repetitive content and Indian films over-shadowing their local productions.

It was Shah Rukh Khan's My Name is Khan which officially broke this barrier 9 years ago and paved the way for films from our country to re-enter Egyptian theaters.
