In an official announcement today, cricketer M.S. Dhoni owned football club Chennaiyin FC said that they have teamed up with AGS Entertainment for the promotion of their upcoming foot-ball based film Bigil.

"Proud to announce our #Verithanam-aana association with @Ags_production for the highly anticipated release of #Bigil #BigilCFCJerseyXchange", shared the official handle of the football team and the team's manager and former English midfielder John Gregory was seen pictured with Aishwarya Kalpathi of AGS Entertainment.

Bigil's lead actor Vijay and M.S. Dhoni who is also known as 'Thala' among his Tamil fandom, have long been friends and their association is being celebrated as the 'Thala'-'Thalapathy' union among fans on the internet.

“Our movie mainly revolves around football and women empowerment and we think that this association will draw long overdue attention to this beautiful sport. We are also certain that this association will help us promote the sport at the grassroots level here in Chennai..”, said Aishwarya Kalpathi on the association.

As part of the association, a Bigil FIFA Championship will be conducted in Chennai and Kochi that culminates on October 25, 2019 with a prize pool of Rs. 50,000. Team Bigil will also be conducting a meet-and-greet with kids from a CFC Soccer School on October 22, 2019 and Bigil’s Creative Producer Archana Kalpathi with some women footballers will be in attendance for Chennaiyin FC’s first home game on October 27, 2019.
