Singam 2 Preview - SWOT Analysis

Director Hari’s ‘Singam 2’, one of the most anticipated films of this year, is gearing up for release on July 5. The movie boasts of a huge star cast including Suriya, Anushka, Hansika, Vivek, Santhanam and Hollywood actor Danny Sapani. Music is by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography is handled by Priyan. Editing is taken care by VT Vijayan.

Strengths

• The movie brings together the successful team of Suriya and Hari for the fourth time. As it is the sequel of blockbuster ‘Singam’, the expectations are really high on the film.
• Hari is always known for packaging commercially. With Danny Sapani on board, the film has got an International flavor and many of the scenes have been shot in South Africa.
• Suriya has the ability to carry any film on his shoulders comfortably. He is expected to deliver yet another power-packed performance.
• The movie is going to have a massive release in over 2300 screens across the globe. If the movie manages to gain positive word of mouth after the release, the movie is sure to become a blockbuster.

Weaknesses

• Devi Sri Prasad, who had given few chart-busters for ‘Singam’, has failed big time in ‘Singam 2’. The songs are strictly pedestrian.
• The teasers of the film are too loud and they have created a negative impact among Suriya's fan base.

Opportunities

• Sequels are a rarity in Tamil cinema. There have been very few successful sequels such as ‘Muni 2 – Kanchana’ and Kamal Haasan is currently involved in the making of ‘Vishwaroopam 2’. Singam 2’s success will open up the possibility of many film-makers opting for sequels.
• The movie will have a free run over the next two weeks, as the next big release ‘Maryan’ is slated for release only on July 19.

Threats

• The movie’s running length is about 166 minutes. It might work against the movie if the pace slackens.

Final Words

Singam 2 has a tried and tested crew on board, and might turn out to be a mass entertainer like its prequel. Watching the movie with the least expectations might help.
