Laabam starring Vijay Sethupathi and Shruti Haasan in the lead is directed by SP Jananathan of 'E' and 'Peranmai' fame. The latest addition to the film's cast are Tollywood actor Jagapathi Babu, Prithvi Pandiarajan and Kalai Arasu. Jagapathi Babu reportedly will be essaying the role of the villain. 

Sai Dhanshika and Harish Uthaman are also part of the cast. The film's title Laabam comes with the tagline 'Daylight Robbery'. The team has wrapped the first schedule of the film in Courtallam and the next schedule of the film is set to begin in the first week of October in the outskirts of Chennai.
