At the trailer launch of his upcoming film Kadaram Kondan, actor Vikram has confirmed that he will next be seen in Mani Ratnam's ambitious project Ponniyin Selvan, which is an adaptation of Kalki Krishnamoorthy's classic Tamil novel of the same name. The Chiyaan actor has also confirmed that the movie will begin shooting from early 2020. 

Vikram is the second actor after Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to confirm their presence in Ponniyin Selvan. Other names that have been associated with the project from time to time are Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Keerthy Suresh, Amala Paul, Jayaram, Mohan Babu and Sathyaraj among others. 

Ponniyin Selvan is most likely to be bankrolled by Reliance Entertainment in association with Madras Talkies with A.R. Rahman for music. Actor Elango Kumaravel was last said to have been roped in for penning the screenplay of this magnum opus.
