The buzz surrounding Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan has been revived yet again, for recent reports suggest that actress Amala Paul has allotted her dates for an important role in the yet unannounced project. The ambitious film had earlier turned heads for its supposed star-studded cast which included names like Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sathyaraj.
Additionally, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh and Aishwarya Rajesh were also said to have bee approached for roles in the movie, though an official word on the cast has never been announced by Madras Talkies, Mani Ratnam's production house.
Ponniyin Selvan is expected to be made in two parts and it was earlier suggested that the film will go on floors by September this year. Word had it that Lyca Productions backed out of this project due to budget constraints and the team was last in talks with Reliance Entertainment to bankroll the film.
