Director Karthick Naren who rose to fame as the rookie 21 year old giving Kollywood a hit film like Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru (D 16), is known for making his films within a short period of time. While D 16 was filmed in 28 days, and his yet unreleased Naragasooran was completed in 41 days [The film's then producer Gautham Menon was even publicly appreciative of the director sticking to his promised timeline].

Now, Karthick has announced Mafia with Arun Vijay in the lead and it has been revealed that this film too will be shot within a quick time-line i.e. approximately 37 days. It has also been revealed that the film will begin shooting from July 6, 2019. 

Mafia is touted to be a gangster drama set in the backdrop of Chennai and will see both Arun Vijay and actor Prasanna in intriguing characters. The movie is produced by Lyca Productions.
