Sarkar which hit the screens for Diwali has done phenomenal business on its opening day and has emerged the biggest opener this year. It also collected Rs. 100 cr in 2 days which is the fastest film in Vijay's career to achieve such a feat. The collections have been steady across many territories on its second day, thanks to the pre-release buzz and strong advance booking.
Vijay's film steady in TN, Karnataka, AP / TG, drops in Kerala
Vijay's film has minted Rs. 75+ cr at the domestic box office in 2 days. Sarkar has performed well in TamilNadu, Karnataka and AP / TG (Andhra Pradesh / Telangana) on Day 2. Surprisingly, AR Murugadoss directorial which set an all-time new record in Kerala on its opening day by grossing Rs. 6.6 cr witnessed a huge drop on Day 2 by minting only Rs. 1.5 cr. In AP / TG, Vijay's film has made a nett share of Rs. 4+ cr in 2 days. With the theatrical rights sold for Rs. 6 cr the film is expected to achieve break-even by the end of the weekend.

In the Overseas market the film is estimated to have grossed Rs. 30+ cr in 2 days. The film has witnessed considerable drop in the overseas market, as it is a working day and the film could generate revenue only from evening and night shows.
The third day of business of Sarkar has been affected by political interference by ruling party AIADMK demanding removal of objectionable scenes from the film which also led to the cancellation of nights shows in many parts of Tamil Nadu.
