Vairamuthu says MeToo allegations against him are false, Chinmayi asks him to take a lie detector test!

Of all the stories of harassment made public under the #metoo hashtag, one that has been haunting the Tamil film industry is that of popular singer Chinmayi's, in which she alleged lyricist Vairamuthu of approaching her with a 'motive' and later intimidating her. She had also shared three accounts of Vairamuthu's alleged sexual misconduct (here and here) and three accounts of his inappropriate advances (here, here and here) on Twitter, without naming the victims.

While initially, Vairamuthu did not address these allegations directly and instead termed the #metoo movement as 'uncultured', he recently released a video statement where he said,

"The allegations that are being leveled against me are totally false. They are completely motivated. If they are true, those concerned can file a case against me. I am waiting to face it. I have been in deep discussions with senior advocates and experts for the past one week. I have put together a collection of unassailable evidence.

No one decide if I am a good person or a bad person now. Let the court tell. I bow my head to the law. Thank you."

It is worth mentioning here that besides Chinmayi's tweets, an US based artiste named Sindhuja Rajaram and a singer/anchor of a popular TV channel who wished to remain anonymous have opened to media about their allegations against Vairamuthu. Both of them have accused Vairamuthu of making inappropriate advances through incessant phone calls.

Chinmanyi on the other hand has responded to this accusation by tweeting out the below:
