Tanushree Dutta re-opens her assault charges on Nana Paterkar! Exposes film industry's hypocrisy on such issues!

It was the year 2008 when former miss India Universe and then upcoming actress Tanushree Dutta accused actor Nana Patekar of misbehaving with her on the sets of Horn Ok Pleasewhich not only made her opt out of the film but also sent her film career down the spiral. Her only prominent appearance post the incident was in 2010's Tamil film Theeradha Vilayattu Pillai after which she went she went on to star in two Hindi films before relocating to the US.

Now, the actress is back in India and has reopened the same set of allegations against the same set of people, in an interview to a TV channel and from the looks of it, her purpose seems to be not let this incident of grave nature be brushed under the rug as a mere '10 year old accusation'. Excerpts from her interview to various media outlets are quoted below:

  • "Right from day 1 he (Nana Patekar) had started his shenanigans..When I went and complained to the producer (Sami Siddique) and director (Rakesh Sarang) that I am extremely distressed by this person's actions and requested them to keep him out of my way (because he had no work during the shooting of my sequences on set, but he would come and pull me by my hand, misbehave in the name of teaching dance), instead of listening to my complaint and acting on it, (they) included an intimate sequence on Nana Patekar's demand in my solo song which was not in the contract..."

  • He (Nana Patekar) was trying all kind of intimidation tactics to rattle me...I was literally cornered and I was protesting that I don’t want to do that intimate dance step with him because I was uncomfortable with his proximity on set. Everybody saw what happened, but the memory and the popular perception of it is that 'Tanushree Dutta spoke up against harassment and then she was no more.'"

  • "Every single person in this country remembers my incident and this was something on national TV for three days, but even today there's a stoic silence on that. So, my question is, 'Who is going to believe these hypocrites?' These are the people who stand up and raise their voice against women empowerment,"

  • If big stars like Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar continue to work with these kind of people, then what hope is there for any movement to happen? The thing is that our country has become so hypocritical, and people constantly ask why #MeToo movement is not happening in India, it won’t happen unless and until you’ll acknowledge what happened with me in 2008.”

Tanushree has also spoken about how director and BJP loyalist Vivek Agnihotri once told her to 'remove her clothes and dance' infront of actor Irrfan Khan, which was strongly opposed by both Irrfan and actor Suniel Shetty.

The incident took place when Irrfan was required to be given cues for a close-up shot and Vivek Agnihotri felt a skimpily clad actress dancer would help bring expressions to his actor's face.
