The release date of Vetrimaaran and Dhanush's long in the making Vada Chennai, was officially confirmed during the unveiling of a character poster today and the film is hitting theatre screens on October 17, 2018. Vada Chennai is a first part of a triology and has Dhanush playing a carrom board player. Set in north Chennai, the movie is said to track 30 years of the life of a gangster. 

Also starring Aishwarya Rajesh, Samuthirakani, Andreah and Ameer among others, Vada Chennai is produced by Wunderbar Films and will be presented by Lyca Productions. The film has Santhosh Narayanan for music, Velraj for cinematography and G.B. Venkatesh for edits.
