Movies This Week: Starry affair with no great outcome

It raining (pun intended) stars this week in movie theatres of TN and audience have a buffet of names like Kamal Haasan, Jason Statham, Mila Kunis, Kate Mckinnon, Ruby Rose, Justin Theroux and a lot more to choose from. Here is a look at the films that are newly available for viewing this weekend:

  • Vishwaroopam 2 (Tamil)Kamal Haasan's film opened with a lot of pre-release buzz this weekend but comparatively, the response registered for the film have been mixed. The film takes you through the before and after of Vishwaroopam part 1 and is about how Kamal & team stop the villain from bombing Delhi and London this time. (Review Here)

  • Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (Tamil)For a film with a debut director and faces we've only seen in the Bigg Boss Tamil show, Pyaar Prema Kaadhal has done exceedingly well or so reflect the film's ratings. A lighthearted romantic film which is talks about love and its implications, Pyaar Prema Kaadhal is a movie not to be missed by the younger lot. (Review Here)

  • Christopher Robin (English): Strictly a movie for all Winnie the Pooh fans out there, Christopher Robin is (as the name suggests) a grown-up film version of A.A. Milne's iconic book. This fantasy comedy, which is for both children and adults takes us through Christopher Robin's life as a grown up individual in London, along with all the classic characters.

  • The Meg (English): A Hollywood film which is 2 hours long, a shark as the antagonist and Jason Statham is what Meg is all about. This movie is recommended if you ship (pun intended) deep water action entertainers.

  • The Spy Who Dumped Me (English): A satire-ish action comedy, The Spy Who Dumped Me is about two friends inadvertently coming in possession of a most-wanted piece of item and mistakenly being chased around for their lives. One of the film's star Kate Mckinnon has been unanimously praised for her comic antics while the film in general has been passed off as a one-time watch.

Besides the above films, there is also a Nithiin, Raashi Khanna starrer Srinivasa Kalyanam (Telugu) which deals with how two people from polar opposite families manage to get wed adhering to traditions; there is also a film titled Lashtam Pashtam (Hindi) which is based on a true story about two boys from India and Pakistan becoming friends for life, despite the enmity between their countries.
