Steve Ditko co-creator of Marvel's Spiderman & Doctor Strange dies at 90!

In an unfortunate turn of events, the New York Police Department has confirmed to the media today that Marvel comics legend and co-creator of famous characters like Spider Man and Doctor Strange is no more at the age of 90 and that they found his body in his apartment on June 29, 2018. He is believed to have been dead for two days when the body was found and is survived by no family members.

The extremely reclusive Ditko first rose to prominence in 1961 after  Lee, the editor-in-chief at Marvel Comics, gave Ditko the assignment of coming up with a character, with Jack Kirby's idea of a teen superhero with spider powers. Ditko came up with Spider-Man, a hero who wore head-to-toe read and blue costume, with web-shooters in it. He also came up with classic Spider-Man characters like Doctor Octopus, Sandman, the Lizard and Green Goblin among others.

His next major milestone was in 1963 when he came up with Doctor Strange, a psychedelic doctor with super-powers. This legendary comic left Marvel in 1966 over frictions on money and creativity before returning to the company in 1979 to co-create other characters such as Machine Man, the Micronauts, Speedball and the Squirrel girl. Ditko has also worked for other publishers such as DC comics (Hawk and Dove, Shade the Changing Man, the Creeper), Charlton comics (Blue Beetle, the Question, Captain Atom) among others.
