Kochadaiyaan & Supreme Court spell trouble for Latha Rajinikanth yet again!

Only yesterday, a photo of Superstar Rajinikanth's wife Latha Rajinikanth meeting the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena founder Raj Thackeray and his wife sent everyone in a dizzy. This picture was a topic of discussion as Raj Thackeray is the nephew of Bal Thackeray, whom Rajini took a dig at in his recent flick Kaala, directed by Pa Ranjith. [Latha Rajinikanth had earlier reiterated that Kaala was just a work of fiction and that the politics in the movie need not be compared to real life]. Now, Latha Rajinikanth is in the headlines again but it does not involve the Thackreys. The Supreme Court today pulled up the superstar's wife for non-payment of Rs. 6.2 crore to an ad agency called AD-Bureau Advertising Pvt Ltd.

Reportedly, AD-Bureau had stepped in when a company called Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd was facing trouble with the production of Rajinikanth's 2014 animated film Kochadaiyaan, directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth. However, since the makers later sold the distribution rights of the movie to Eros International instead of Mediaone, AD-bureau ended up dragging the parties involved to court for non-payment of dues.

In February, 2018 the Supreme Court comprising justices Ranjan Gogoi and R Banumathi ordered that 'if the firm Mediaone Global Entertainment Ltd does not pay the dues to AD-Bureau Advertising Pvt Ltd within three months, then Ms Latha would have to pay the amount as per the undertaking given by her.' Now, the court wants Latha to face trial as the dues remain unsettled while Latha's side argue that the undertaking to pay Rs. 6.20 crore within 12 weeks was recorded by the previous lawyer, without Latha's approval. The court has now fixed a hearing on July 10, 2018 to announce whether or not the investigation and trial of Latha Rajinikanth will be revived.
