Movies This Week: Incredibles 2 walks the talk!

The movie going crowd in Chennai are hit with some major franchise movies from Hollywood (Ocean's 8 and Incredibles 2) besides the locally sourced yet highly talked about films like Tik Tik Tik and Traffic Ramasamy. Here's a look at which films made it to our recommendation list to watch this weekend:

Though this latest release of actor Jayam Ravi is being lauded for its visuals and its experimental genre, the general reaction to the movie has been mixed and Tik Tik Tik has only managed to garner a 55% in our movie ratings. The story of the film is based on how an illusionist is sent to space to save Tamil Nadu from a rogue asteroid and makes for a good one-time watch on the big screen.

A fictional biopic on the life of Traffic Ramasamy, who has till date filed more than 500 PILs, Traffic Ramsamy did not live upto the expectations surrounding the film. With the film failing to impress the critics, the audience have been a little more easy merely for the presence of a name like S.A. Chandrasekar in it.

Incredilbles 2 (English)
Despite being an animation film, Incredibles 2 seems to have trumped all movie releases this week for good rating and positive audience reaction keeps pouring in for the movie from all quarters. Being unanimously praised for its fun quotient, this second film if the Incredibles franchise sees the Parr family (Bob, Helen, Violet, Dash and baby Jack-Jack) and Frozone bring the Supers back and taking on a new villain.

Oceans 8 (English)
Another film from a famous Hollywood franchise, Oceans 8 had sky-rocketed expectations for two reasons 1) the success ratio of the previous films 2) its all female cast as opposed to the all-male cast in it's predecessors. However, the movie is off to an average start, thanks to its mediocre story and not-so-impressive antics. Ocean's 8 sees the estranged sister of Danny Ocean (main protagonist of the Oceans saga) gather a team of seven other highly skilled women (played by A-list actresses) to attempt a heist at the star-studded annual Met Gala.

Other Movies: Chennai theatres are also filled with other options this weekend which includes Andhra Mess (Tamil) featuring Pooja Devraiya, Kargil (Tamil) which is about two people trying to sort their love story, Jamba Lakdi Pamba (Telugu) - another story of a couple on the brink of a divorce and Hereditary (English) a horror film lauded by critics (so much as an Oscar contender) yet not-so-liked by the audience.

MC Pick: Incredibles 2
