Kamal Haasan’s much delayed spy thriller film Vishwaroopam 2 is gearing up for release on August 10 worldwide. The trailer of the film was launched yesterday in all three languages Hindi, Tamil and Telugu simultaneously. Kamal Haasan was part of the trailer launch event held in Chennai yesterday.

Kamal Haasan thanked the cast and crew of the film for their contribution in this much delayed film. He also thanked Gautami for being the costume designer in both the films and doing her job well. He also stressed that he or his production house Raaj Kamal Films International is not responsible for the delay in the film’s release.

Vishwaroopam 2, is the sequel to Vishwaroopam which hit the screens in 2013. The film was embroiled in controversies and the film release was banned by the TN State Government  after Muslim groups felt they were portrayed in bad light. Haasan had held a special screening of the film for the Muslim outfit leaders following their demand but failed to win their approval.  Heeding the requests of Muslim civic organisations, controversial sceneswere muted or morphed, allowing the film to be released on 7 February 2013 in Tamil Nadu after clearing all the hurdles. 

Ready to face any challenges surrounding Vishwaroopam 2

One of the media journalists had raised a question on what Kamal Haasan would do if Vishwaroopam 2 also faced similar opposition like Vishwaroopam and has release issues. Kamal Haasan had strongly said that such incidents would not happen to this film (Vishwaroopam 2). The earlier protest was a political revenge in disguise. I am also prepared and ready to face any challenges surrounding the film’s release as a politician now.

Kamal Haasan’s said that the dialogue from the trailer (Vishwaroopam2) has addressed the issues surrounding the earlier film and is enough proof that the film is not anti-religious. He hopes that the film will have a smooth release without any hurdles.

Kamal Haasan said that he was forced to hold a special screening of Vishwaroopam last time before the film’s release and hopes he won’t be forced to do such things this time.

Prequel and Sequel

Vishwaroopam 2 is a prequel as well as sequel to Vishwaroopam. The film also traces the early life of Wisam Ahmed Kashmiri (role essayed by Kamal Haasan) to reveal the mystery surrounding the character.
