GV Prakash's 'Sarvam Thaala Mayam' has been shot using live sync sound

Music composer turned actor GV Prakash Kumar, who is basking in the success of his recent outing ‘Naachiyar’, had recently wrapped up the shooting of ‘Sarvam Thaala Mayam’ in Meghalaya. The film marks the comeback of the cinematographer-filmmaker Rajiv Menon  to direction after a hiatus of nearly 15 years. Sarvam Thaala Mayam is a musical drama film and GV Prakash plays an aspiring musician. The film has music by AR Rahman and there will be nine songs. Malayalam actress Aparna Balamurali, plays the female lead in the film.

Director Rajiv Menon has apparently used live sync-sound technology in the film. Sync sound (synchronized sound recording) refers to sound recorded at the time of filming a movie. When a film is shot entirely in sync sound (Live recording), it gives a more authentic feel, enhancing the viewers’ experience. The actors need not dub for their dialogues later in the post-production stage.

Kamal Haasan has used live recording technology for his film ‘Virumaandi’. Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam too has used the live sync-sound in his O Kadhal Kanmani. Indian films such as “Lagaan”, “Dil Chahta Hai” and “Rock On” were shot using sync sound.
