Pullela Gopichand Biopic film announced
A biopic on ace badminton coach Pullela Gopichand, the man who steered names like Saina Nehwal and P.V. Sindhu into the Olympics was announced, marking the occasion of his 43rd birthday. The yet to be titled film will be a made simultaneously in Hindi, Telugu and will be produced by Fox Star Studios in association with Abundantia Entertainment. Speaking on the film, the most iconic names of Indian Badminton history was quotes as saying,
"Badminton is at an inflection point in our country and nothing delights me more than to see the rapidly growing interest for the sport, especially with the youth. I would be proud if by sharing my story as a film, we can encourage more and more people to pursue their dreams. I am excited with the developments on the film and look forward to Vikram and Fox Star taking this film to the masses."
Though an official announcement on the director of the film and the lead cast are yet to be made, it is being said that the film will go on floors by mid-2018. P. Gopichand rose to fame after becoming the only Indian after Prakash Padukone to win the All England Champions in 2001. He retired at the age of 30 and is considered one of the greatest players of Indian Badminton history.
