Kodi Veeran Songs - Music Review

Ramesh S Kannan

Kodiveeran is an upcoming rural action drama film directed by Muthiah with Sasikumar as the lead once again after KuttiPuli. N R Raghunathan scores music for the film and the director continues to work with various composer from his first film KuttiPuli. Let's checkout how this album with NR Raghunathan fared.

Ayyo Adi Aathe ✔

NR Raghunathan jumps into Imman's recently familiarised Ilayaraja's soundscape in AyyoAdiAathe and ropes in Vandana Srinivasan and Jagadeesh to croon the lovely melodious number. The tune gets better in charanam portions and the composer throws in some lovely Napier's bass line and fantastic rhythm structure to make the listener sway along the tune.

Andam Kidu kidunga:

Andam Kidu kidunga is a familiar rustic festival folk number sung with an astounding energy by Guru and the number gets the expected detour from the raw kuthu to mellifluous turn in the mid-way by Mahitha. The folk song stays true to the genre but the song has very less novelty factor to it and the six and half minutes of the song sounds too long.

Thangame Unna:

Thangame Unna has Madhu Bala Krishnan behind the mic after a long time and that's the only factor which entice the listener in this track. The tune hardly evokes any interest apart from the niftily done guitar work by Keba Jeremiah and Kiran's flute in the background.

Kalavani ✔

Kalavani is another passable familiar melody which once again borrows heavily from Imman and the singers efficiently managed to make this song listenable especially V VPrasanna. The backgrounds stays outdated mode while also breezes on the previous works of the composer especially Nadhaswaram.

Raga Raga Ragalada:

Raga Raga Ragalada has an absurd rhyming lyrics by Thanikodi, however loved the Nadhaswaram interlude by Thirumoorthi while the strings of singers able to clasp the listeners till the song ends.

Atha Seeru:

Atha Seeru is a quintessential melancholy track aided by the Vedha's Gadam and the track is very short to create any impact on the listeners.

Verdict:

Kodiveeran is a typical Muthiah movie soundtrack with the raw folk touches throughout the soundtrack which doesn’t work as expected.
