Shahrukh Khan's distasteful Chennai Express New Poster
After much fanfare, Shah Rukh Khan released his distasteful and offensive new poster from his upcoming movie, Chennai Express, starring Deepika Padukone. Chennai Express is produced by UTV and directed by Rohit Shetty, who is known for his Singam remake in Hindi and Golmaal series.
Shahrukh's penchant for caricaturing South Indians/Tamil
Shahrukh has been caricaturing South Indians and Tamils in most of his recent movies. In Om Shanthi Om, he did the "Enna Rascala" and "mind it" with the toy tiger which were received well by both North and South audience alike. Encouraged by the positive response, Shahrukh probably saw a gold mine in stereotyping and mocking Tamils. In Ra.One, he acted as a South Indian who eats noodles mixed with curd and enacted many such crude stereotypes. Shahrukh's aim of surpassing Shankar's Enthiran with his Ra.One disappointed both his fans and critics all over India.
Now, Shahrukh has taken a notch higher in fanning bias and hatred with his just released poster of Chennai Express. It is sad to note an all India star who raises his voice against racial profiling and talks about the importance of treating people with respect has been repeatedly offending South Indians/Tamils with his poor taste at comedy.
