Rajinikanth Should Have Acted in Thaai Kizhavi - Radikaa Sarathkumar

Actor-producer Radikaa Sarathkumar has revealed that her upcoming film Thaai Kizhavi, directed by debutant Sivakumar Murugesan, originally carried the kind of mass appeal suited for Superstar Rajinikanth. Speaking at the film’s pre-release event, the actor shared that the character she plays reminded her of a role typically associated with the iconic star.

Radikaa admitted she was initially hesitant to take up the project and said it was her husband, actor R. Sarathkumar, who convinced her to come on board. She also mentioned watching the completed film alongside Kamal Haasan, adding that she thoroughly enjoyed the film from start to finish.

Reflecting on the film’s energy, Radikaa said she felt the story was something Rajinikanth could have headlined. However, since such a role may not have suited him, the makers reshaped the character into a female-led narrative and cast her instead. She noted that the mass appeal of the character naturally brings Rajinikanth to mind.

The actor also opened up about the demanding prosthetic make-up process required for her role, revealing that she had to spend nearly four and a half hours daily preparing for the character. During those challenging moments, she recalled Kamal Haasan’s dedication while working on Avvai Shanmughi, saying his perseverance inspired her to overcome her own struggles.

In Thaai Kizhavi, Radikaa plays Pavunuthaayi, a recently widowed woman drawn into a property dispute after her husband’s death. Determined to retain control over her wealth, her actions trigger chaos when she later becomes bedridden, leaving behind mysterious clues that send her sons, relatives, and villagers searching for her hidden assets.

The film also stars Singampuli, Arul Doss, Munishkanth, Bala Saravanan, Ilavarasu, Muthukumar, George Maryan, and Raichal Rabecca in key roles.

Produced by Sudhan Sundaram under Passion Studios and presented by SK Productions, the film features music by Nivas K Prasanna, cinematography by Vivek Vijayakumar, and editing by San Lokesh.

Thaai Kizhavi is scheduled to hit theatres on February 27.
