Tamil Nadu Box Office Report - VIP 2, PEMT, Taramani, Vikram Vedha

The biggest Tamil release on August 11 was Dhanush's VIP 2, directed by Soundarya. The film received average reviews but opened well thanks to Dhanush's star power and brand VIP. VIP 2 has grossed around 12 CR in its opening weekend in TN, with largely steady collections all through. August 15 will see a definite spike in collections again. 

Udhay Stalin - Nivetha Pethuraj's Podhuvaga Emmanasu Thangam has grossed around 3.5 CR from TN, according to a spokesperson from producers Sri Thenandal Films. It's a very average opening. 

Director Ram's Taramani is doing well in urban centers and multiplexes. It has grossed around 2 CR in TN after the opening weekend. With great reviews and public word of mouth, the film is expected to be steady for some more days.

The season's blockbuster, Vikram Vedha, meanwhile has grossed more than 30 CR in TN and enters its 25th day today. It is the career best BO performer for both the heroes, Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. Vikram Vedha can certainly be expected to do well in the multiplexes for some more weeks. A rare case of class content and mass collections meeting.

Meesaya Murukku has grossed close to 17 CR in TN so far, and given its investment it can be called a true blue Blockbuster. This film also celebrates its 25th day today.
