Preview of Neethaane En Ponvasantham and Kumki – SWOT Analysis

by Raven

A very interesting line-up of movies ahead this Friday at the box-office. Gautham Menon’s Neethaane En Ponvasantham and Prabu Solomon’s Kumki will battle it out this weekend. Both the movies are strikingly different from each other. We have clubbed the preview analysis of both the films, so that you can pick which movie to watch first this weekend.

Note : The preview analysis does not compare the two films or rate any movie higher, but it just provides the analysis tabulated next to each other for convenience.

Neethaane En Ponvasantham

Kumki

Plot

Neethaane En Ponvasantham is touted to be a usual Gautham Menon candyfloss romance film.

Prabu Solomon’s Kumki is expected to be a forest thriller and it revolves around a mahout and his elephant.

Cast

Jiiva and Samantha play the lead roles. Santhanam will provide comic relief.

Debutant Vikram Prabhu and Lakshmi Menon play the lead roles. Thambi Ramaiah plays pivotal role in the film.

Strengths

Gautham Menon is one of the best directors who could make feel good romantic tales. The trailer and teasers look sleek and stylish as usual.

Prabu Solomon is completely a different director post Mynaa. The trailer of Kumki has some breathtaking visuals and one can expect the film to be a visual treat.

Santhanam is expected to bring the roof down with his hilarious punch lines. He definitely adds value to the film.

Vikram Prabhu and Lakshmi Menon look very promising in their rustic attire.

The combination of Gautham Menon and Ilaiyaraja has created huge buzz and few songs have already become a rage.

Prabu Solomon and Imman are teaming up after Mynaa. Kumki album is being rated as one of the best albums this year.

Opportunities

The movie might take Jiiva and Gautham Menon back to winning ways. Both of them need a hit to reaffirm their elite spots.

The movie is very important for Vikram Prabhu, as he has already started working on his next film. He could become the next big thing if the film becomes a hit.

Threats  There is a possibility for the film to have a déjà vu feeling with Gautham Menon’s ultra sweet romantic dialogues. Similarly, the initial rushes of Kumki look similar to Mynaa. People might draw comparisons.

Many films are lined up for release over the next fortnight. Bala’s Paradesi, Santhanam’s Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya and Sattam Oru Iruttarai are slated for release on December 21st. Unless NEP and Kumki impress people, they might have to lose screens very soon.

Going by the trailers and the buzz, there is every chance that both NEP and Kumki would turn out to be hits. However, it would be interesting to see how theatres would accommodate new releases. Watch this space for the reviews of both the films on Friday.
