Kaala - Rajinikanth, Mammootty to reunite post Thalapathy ?
Actor Rajinikanth's 164th film Kaala is being directed by Pa. Ranjith who is known to use pro-dalit story lines in all his movies. So when the first look of Kaala was released with Rajinikanth sitting on a Mahindra Thar with the number plate BR 1956, the online populace decoded BR to BR Ambedkar (Baba Saheb) who was the front runner of pro-dalit movements himself and 1956 to the year of his death. This being said, the daunting question of who would don the role of Ambedkar might have finally been answered. If sources are to be believed, the team has approached Malayalam star Mammootty for the role and the actor is said to take a call on it yet. But the very news of hom being approached has created quite a buzz among fans as Mammootty's last outing with the superstar (Maniratnam's Thalapathy) turned out to be a cult blockbuster.
Kaala has also been in the news for roping in Bollywood character artiste Pankaj Tripathi for the role of a shady cop. Incidentally, Tripathi played a pivotal character in Nil Battey Sannatta (remade in Tamil as Amma Kanakku by Wunderbar Films that is also bankrolling Kaala) and his impressive performance in the movie is said to have landed him his current role. Also starring Huma Quershi, Eashwari Rao, Anjali Patil, Samuthirakani among others, the film is expected to hit theatre screens in the second half of 2018. The movie will feature Rajinikanth in the role of a gangster with a tattoo on his forearm.
