Yeidhavan Review - Fair enough thriller

Bharath vijayakumar

Plot:

The hero takes on the medical education mafia.

The crux of Yeidhavan is very similar to Bairava. The former was content with having Vijay in the lead and very little thought went into how the hero vanquishes the villain. Director Sakthi Rajasekaran does not take the easy route. He makes sure that the film remains within the logical boundaries and the hero remains an underdog for the most part. Of course you cannot go the one man army route with a budding actor like Kalaiyarasan.

The cast does a pretty good job. Kalaiyarasan is never found wanting. The bad men are what make Yeidhavan extremely watchable. The actor playing Gaurav has a presence and as the suave-cold blooded villain he delivers the goods.

The screenplay ensures Yeidhavan remains interesting for the most part. The first half in particular moves on unpredictable lines. We keep getting introduced to characters and the main antagonist makes quite an unusual entry. These sequences in the first half that keep unraveling links ( in the form of characters) of the corrupt network as the hero tries to get his money back are quite gripping.

The amateurish dialogues at places, a couple of false notes in trying to play to the gallery in the form of heroism and an unwarranted dance number. These are what keep pulling Yeidhavan back.

Bottomline:

Yeidhavan does give a good shot at the target. The arrow wobbles a bit but it does reach the destination.
