Balle Vellaiya Thevaa Review - A pointless film

Balle Vellaiya Thevaa - A pointless film

Bharath Vijayakumar

Plot: A few characters in a village and we are not even sure what is happening.

Cast:

Every actor in this film actually seems super confident and is over expressive, the type of performance you get in the type of comedy films that this film aspires to be. You can sense that they seem to know what they are doing but it is just one of those times when nothing comes together.

Direction:

This is not a lazy film. Solai Prakash does have some interesting ideas. But the execution leaves a lot to be desired. For a film that is under 2 hours it seems infinitely long as we develop a disconnect at the start and the distance between the screen and us only keeps increasing as the film progresses. This is not a film that irritates you or you want to hate but it definitely bores you. 'Watching paint dry' is what comes to mind.

Bottomline:

Balle Vellaiya Thevaa is supposed to be a rural comedy. We get the hint as everyone is either happy faced or keep smiling. But what about us the audience? We only keep wondering and search for that elusive joke that never comes.
