Rajinikanth's 2.0 budgets to 400 crores !!!

While the budget race between SS. Rajamouli's Baahubali (part 1 and 2 combinedly made at 250 crores) and Shankar's 2.0 (so far estimated at 350 crores) halted long back, the budget estimate of the latter has taken a new turn. According to a report in The Hindu, makers of 2.0 have reportedly admitted to the movie getting costlier by another 50 crores, amounting the total to be a whopping 400 crores. The reason for the budget increase is the buzz created post the first look launch of this Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar starrer. Apparently the makers (Lyca Productions) have been receiving enquiries from newer markets like Brazil and Argentina and this has led to the makers into thinking of releasing the movie in further different languages. (The movie is already releasing in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, English, Japanese and Chinese)

Added to this, the makers have also decided to release the movie in more than 300 screens in German and Austrian markets due to the overflowing demand. (It is to be noted that traditionally, only 40-50 screens are allotted for any Indian movie in such markets). With such hype and demand surrounding the movie already, the double Oscar winner's (AR Rahman) musical might as well be the most expensive movie made in the history of Indian cinema.
