Aascar cancels Billa 2 Main Trailer launch event

It cannot get any more dysfunctional than this with Billa 2 unit cancelling yet another planned event. The official trailer launch event at the Anna Centennial Auditorium was cancelled late Sunday night, much to the dismay of Thala fans. One of the talks going around is that the distributor and the producer of Billa 2 had a fall-out because the distributors tried to renegotiate the agreed price as part of the contract.

Another reason quoted was some differences arising over who picks up the the cost associated with organizing the trailer launch. In Tamil Industry, usually after the distribution rights get sold,  the distributor start spending for pre-release promotions while the producer passes the baton and tightens the belt.

The trailer is still expected to be released on YouTube without the much touted promotional launch event. With these last minute cancellations and uncertainties, the fans are worried whether the distributor may back-out from the announced date of July 13. One of the overseas distributors who is working around the clock to release record number of prints, expressed their displeasure "why everything is not clear about Billa2, hope there will be NO more surprises".
