Aravaan Movie (SWOT)

Aravaan Movie Preview (SWOT)

Vasanthabalan's Aravaan will be releasing this weekend. Even though the expectations are muted among general public, the movie industry and media people have huge expectations due to Vasanthabalan factor. The Cannes' director is known for his originality and courage to purse off-beat themes.

The story is based on one chapter in the novel Kaaval Kootam, which took 10 years of research for Tamil writer Su. Venkatesan to capture 600 years of history of Madurai between 1310 and 1920. The 1048-page novel also won the Sahitya Akademi award for the year 2011. Interesting facts about the movie include the unique security system that prevailed in Madurai Fort where guards would repay the money or goods if they were not able to prevent the houses from being burgled.

Strengths

  • Vasanthabalan's Script and Direction. One can be sure the attempt will have touch of brilliance.
  • Intriguing Storyline based on Tamil history.
  • Good production values delivered by top notch technicians.
  • Aadhi's transformation.

Weaknesses

  • Vasanthabalan has keen music sense which is evident right from his first movie. Aravaan's songs are not successful as his previous one even though the audio was released in grand scale with AR Rahman, Manirathnam gracing the occasion.

Opportunities

  • Lack of opposition from recently released movies and also no major releases in sight. With positive word of mouth, this movie can succeed big time.

Threats

  • Public Exam Season will keep the young demographics away unless the movie is exceptional.
  • Based on initial promos which focused on intimate photos of lead characters, a section of audience believe the movie is catered for adult audience.
