After emerging as the biggest Tamil blockbuster of 2026, Suriya's Karuppu is now gearing up for its OTT premiere. The RJ Balaji directorial, which has grossed over Rs 175 crore in Tamil Nadu and crossed Rs 304 crore worldwide, is set to make its digital debut after a highly successful theatrical run. Karuppu Set for OTT Release from June 12 on Amazon Prime. 

Released on May 15 following a brief delay caused by last-minute financial hurdles, Karuppu overcame its initial setbacks to become a phenomenon at the box office. Backed by strong word-of-mouth and positive reviews, the film completed 25 days in theatres while continuing to draw audiences across markets.

The film has rewritten several box office records during its run. Within four days, it surpassed the lifetime collections of Singam 2 to become the highest-grossing film of Suriya's career. It later crossed the global earnings of films such as Mersal, Petta and Thunivu, eventually entering the prestigious Rs 200 crore club in just eight days.

Currently, Karuppu stands as the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026, ending a prolonged dry spell at the Tamil Nadu box office.

Directed by RJ Balaji, the fantasy action drama stars Suriya as Karuppu, a guardian deity who descends to Earth to help a troubled family, only to find himself taking on a deeply corrupted system in pursuit of justice.
