Speculation that Vishwanath & Sons, starring Suriya, is a remake of the Malayalam film Kangaroo has been dismissed by recent reports.

According to reports, the family drama directed by Venky Atluri is based on an original script written by the filmmaker, putting an end to earlier rumours linking the project to the Malayalam film that starred Prithviraj Sukumaran.

The speculation reportedly began after the makers unveiled first-look posters featuring Suriya holding a baby, which reminded some viewers of the premise of Kangaroo. Vishwanath & Sons is currently slated for a July 2026 theatrical release and also stars Mamitha Baiju, Raveena Tandon, and Radikaa Sarathkumar in key roles.
