Mahesh Babu and director SS Rajamouli’s long-awaited collaboration has been officially titled Varanasi. The title and first look were revealed at a major event held at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad. The project was previously promoted with the hashtag #GlobeTrotter, confirming it as a globe-trotting and time-trotting adventure film.

The event marked a shift in promotional strategy, with the makers opting for a digital-first grand premiere. The first look and teaser were scheduled to stream live on JioHotstar from 7 PM. At the venue, a massive 130 ft × 100 ft projection—the largest in India—was set up to screen the teaser for attendees, with an expected audience of over 50,000 people. The programme also included a live performance of the film’s title track by Shruti Haasan and Divine.

Before the official stream began, the video asset was accidentally played during testing, revealing the title and initial visuals. Footage showing Mahesh Babu seated on Nandi, covered in blood, and holding a trident surfaced online shortly after.

The film features Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in key roles. MM Keeravani is composing the music. The project is produced by KL Narayana under Durga Arts. A release date is yet to be announced.
