Idly Kadai is actor Dhanush's self-directed movie that is scheduled to release on April 10, 2025 marking the Tamil New Year. Two new posters from this film were released as Pongal specials, and the first look of Nithya Menen from Idly Kadai was revealed in one of them.

Idly Kadai is Dhanush and Nithya Menen's second film together, after they famously shared screen space in Thiruchitrambalam (2022). Nithya Menen won a National Film Award for Best Actress in Thiruchitrambalam, and before the film's release, Dhanush at the Thiruchitrambalam audio launch had said about the actress,

"If there is only 10 more minutes of sunlight, and an entire scene has be finished, if Nithya Menen is there, then one can bravely go and finish shooting that scene. She is such a phenomenal talent. I want to tell a lot of stories together (with her) to this world.

 

I wish to do a lot of movies with Nithya Menen. I don't say this that easily."

A Dawn Pictures production, Idly Kadai also stars Arun Vijay, Shalini Pandey, Prakash Raj, Samuthirakani, Raj Kiran among others. The movie's technical crew includes GV Prakash for music, Kiran Koushik for cinematography, Prasanna GK for edits.
