Kannada actor Upendra has joined Rajinikanth in the Superstar's upcoming movie Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, and produced by Sun Pictures. Confirming his casting in Coolie, Upendra, who is active in the Kannada cine industry since the 90s, told the print media,

“I went and shot for the look test, and I’m glad that they were happy with the outcome. I will go back now to start with the shoot. It will be a role that I will cherish for life,

I met Rajini sir when I did Upendra 25 years ago. Back then the sheer jubilation of having met my idol in person was the highlight of my life. I had not imagined even in my wildest dreams that I will share screen space with him one day." 

 

Upendra had initially shared an images with Rajinikanth on August 24, 2024 (Saturday) but he soon deleted the Instagram story, and X post. The X post was originally captioned, "Feeling blessed to share Screen space with my idol SUPERSTAR Rajni sir #Coolie", and the Instagram story was accompanied by the Coolie Disco song for music. 

Coolie went on floors in Hyderabad on June 5, and has since been filmed in both Chennai, and Hyderabad. Upendra is buzzed to be part of a huge dance number in the movie, while some reports also suggest of the Kannada actor playing villain in Coolie.
