Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi of the Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP) is currently in the race for a third term, as the ongoing Indian General Elections takes place in seven phases till June 1, 2024. Today i.e. May 20, 2024 marked phase 5 of these Lok Sabha elections, and voting is going on in states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharasthra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and union territories Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh.  

As India awaits the results of these elections on 4 June 2024, news of a biopic on sitting Prime Minister Narendra Modi has surfaced. Tamil actor Sathyaraj who attained PAN-Indian fame playing Kattapa in the SS Rajamouli directed Baahubali movies, is said to be playing the far-right political party leader.

"Acting as a villain doesn't make someone a villain in real life. Similarly being an atheist does not mean that acting in any other role is bad..Talks are going on and there might be an official confirmation soon" - TOI quotes a source close to Sathyaraj on the actor being cast in the Narendra Modi biopic on May 19, 2024

 

However on a prior date i.e. May 18, 2024 a Tamil news platform called Minnambalam quotes Sathyaraj himself as stating that the actor is not part of the Narendra Modi biopic as "he is a Periyarist"

Prior to becoming the Prime Minister of India representing the BJP-RSS alliance, Narendra Modi had also served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 2001 to 2014. Modi or NaMo as he is often termed, has been a flagbearer of Hindutva politics and Islamophobia during his terms in the office as both the CM and the PM.
