The Boy And The Heron: India release plans of Oscar 2024 winner

Japanese animated fantasy film The Boy And The Heron, which was Oscar 2024's Best Animated Feature winner is finally gearing up for a release in India. Warner Bros. have officially announced that The Boy And The Heron will soon be in theaters in both Japanese version with English subtitles, and English dubbed versions. 

 

Written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, who has previously won an Oscar for another animated fantasy Spirited Away (2003), The Boy And The Heron also took home the BAFTA and the Golden Globe awards for Best Animated Film this year. 

 

The English version of The Boy And The Heron has voice-acting by Hollywood star actors like Robert Pattinson (The Grey Heron), Christian Bale (Shoichi Maki), Mark Hamill (Granduncle), Florence Pugh (Kiriko), Willem Dafoe (Noble Pelican), Dave Bautista (The Parakeet King), Gemma Chan (Natsuko), Karen Fukuhara (Lady Himi) among others. 

 

 

The Boy and the Heron was theatrically released in Japan on July 14, 2023. The film is Miyazaki’s final Studio Ghibli project, and is titled after a 1937 eponymous novel by Genzaburo Yoshino. The Boy and the Heron movie, follows a 12-year-old boy named Mahito Maki, who finds it difficult to adjust to a new town following his mother's death.


 

But an encounter with a talking grey heron bird changes his life forever, when the creature informs Mahito that his mother is alive. The young boy then ventures into an old tower in pursuit of his mother which leads him into a different world.
