Recently it was officially announced that Kamal Haasan, director Shankar's long-awaited sequel Indian 2 will release in theaters in June, 2024. Latest we hear, it is likely that Indian 2's release date is June 13, 2024 [Thursday]. An official confirmation from producers Lyca Productions is however awaited.  

Indian 2's OTT rights are with Netflix, and the film's post-theatrical satellite rights are with Kalaignar TV Tamil channel. Sony Music label holds the audio rights to the movie, which has Anirudh Ravichander for music, Ravi Varman for cinematography.  

A vigilante action, and a direct sequel to Indian (1996), Indian 2 sees the return of Senapathy from Hong Kong, after learning about the ongoing corruption and injustice in India through social media.

Indian 2 comes with an ensemble of S. J. Suryah, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Priya Bhavani Shankar. Rakul Preet Singh, Kalidas Jayaram, Gulshan Grover, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Brahmanandam, Zakir Hussain, Piyush Mishra, Guru Somasundaram, Jayaprakash, Delhi Ganesh, Shivaji Guruvayoor, Anant Mahadevan, Deepa Shankar, George Maryan, Vinod Sagar, Akhilendra Mishra, Benedict Garrett, and four late actors Nedumudi Venu, Vivek, G. Marimuthu, and Manobala.
