LIC: Seeman joins the cast! To play Pradeep Ranganathan's father

Love Insurance Corporation (shortened as LIC) is an upcoming romantic comedy, written and directed by Vignesh Shivan. LIC is a joint production venture of Seven Screen Studios and Vignesh Shivan's Rowdy Pictures, and finally began filming in January, 2024.

Latest on this movie is that actor, director, politician Seeman has joined the cast of LIC, which already has Pradeep Ranganathan, Krithi Shetty, S. J. Suryah, Yogi Babu, 'Sofa Boy' Muhammad Rasool among others. Seeman will be seen in a bearded get-up in LIC and he plays lead actor Pradeep Ranaganthan's father in the movie.

Seeman's character also supposedly supports organic agriculture in LIC. Love Insurance Corporation has Anirudh for music, Ravi Varman for cinematography. As soon as it began filming in January, 2024, the team reportedly received a cease and desist order over the film's title and acronym LIC. It was said that of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) - Indian government's insurance and investment company had objected to the use of the title, and warned of legal repercussions in case of no title alteration.

Back in December 2023, music composer turned actor SS Kumaran had also claimed that he had registered the title LIC on behalf of Suma Pictures in 2015, and that an associate of Vignesh Shivan had approached him to give the title of the film. Since SS Kumaran denied permission, and director Vignesh Shivan still used it, the former had accused the latter of trademark infringement.

"I had registered the title with TFPC in 2015, and have been renewing it every year. I like Vignesh Shivan as a filmmaker, but I'm upset they have gone with LIC as the title despite me refusing to part with it when his manager reached out to me." - SS Kumaran

Actress Nayanthara, wife of director Vignesh Shivan was previously suggested to play Pradeep Ranganathan's sister in LIC. But news of her stepping out of the project over remuneration issues followed soon after.
