Actors Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are veteran stars of the Indian film industry and the duo have shared screen space in 3 Hindi movies in their multiple-decades-spanning careers. Last seen in the Bollywood production Hum (1991), Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan are seemingly set to reunite on a Tamil movie this time around. 

Thalaivar 170 (tentative title) is one of Rajini's upcoming projects which was officially announced in March this year. The movie is based on real-life incidents and will see Rajini in the role of a Muslim police officer. It is being widely reported that Amitabh Bachchan has been approached for a pivotal role in this film, which is a production venture of Lyca Productions. 

Lyca Productions famously bankrolled Rajinikanth's 2.0 (2018) - sequel to Enthiran/The Robot (2010). Thalaivar 170 is their third film with the Superstar, and will be directed by TJ Gnanavel of Jai Bhim (2021) fame. Anirudh is composing music for this project, and it remains to be seen if Big B will finally reunite with Rajini on screen, after 32 years .
