Tamil Rockers is an infamous website that cropped up in 2011, providing free illegal downloads of latest movies and shows in high quality. The website as the name suggests, was run by a group of Tamils, and for a significant period of time rattled the Tamil film industry with their nefarious ways of stealing content and uploading them online, sometimes even before release. 

During the onset of pandemic and rise of OTT in 2022, streaming services like Amazon Prime Video and Disney Plus Hotstar joined the forces who were already fighting for Tamil Rockers' take down and their notoriously untraceable administrators. The website was banned in India and ISPs were ordered to block their access.

Despite this, Tamil Rockers continues to crop up on surveillance-free browsers and exist by constantly changing its domain. After a Tamil movie was released based on this website, actor Arun Vijay is currently gearing up for the release of an OTT series on Sony Liv based on this piracy site. Titled Tamilrockerz, the series will premiere on August 19, 2022 and is produced by AVM Productions.

Arun Vijay's Kuttram 23 director Arivazhagan has helmed the series and it also stars Vani Bhojan, Ishwarya Menon, Azhagam Perumal, Vinodhini, G.Marimuthu, Tharun Kumar, Vinod Sagar, Sharath Ravi, Kaakamuttai Ramesh, Kakkamuttai Vignesh, Ajit Joshy. The technical crew of Tamilrockerz includes Vikas Badisa for music, B.Rajasekar for cinematography, PP.Saravanan. MFA for art, Stunt Silva for action and V.J.Sabu Joseph for edits.
