Parthiban uses Lal Singh Chaddha to explain his Independence day video

A few days ago, actor-director R. Parthiban was seen endorsing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Independence day request, of every residence hoisting the Indian National flag at their residence on August 15, 2022 and every Indian citizen changing their social media display picture to an Indian flag between August 2, 2022 and August 15, 2022. "Our Prime Minister of India has given a loving command to celebrate the 75th Independence Day..This is not a command, but our obligation.", the National award winner was seen stating in the video.

While PM Modi's request has been met with mixed reactions throughout the country, Parthiban's endorsement of the same seems to have cost him the wrath of the online. This was evident, when Parthiban took to twitter to praise Aamir Khan's latest film Lal Singh Chaddha, the official Hindi remake of 1994 acclaimed hit The Forrest Gump (English) starring Hollywood ace Tom Hanks.

Looking at Lal singh Chaddha, I said to Aamir Khan with teary eyes, "U r just spreading LOVE through this film to a society where there's hatred and negativity". Amazing movie. Can love, commitment, affection, duty, dignity be better described in a film? This film is necessary for this country where there are people who indulge in hatred and add disgust and insult to it and make Dal Makhani.

At this point, Parthiban addresses his video about Independence day, 2022 and says that it was at the request of central-government owned Doordarshan TV channel that he made the video endorsing Prime Minister Narendra's Modi's request. He also says that if people see this as a move to secure a National Film Award, then anyone who takes the Prime Minister's name will be holding a milestone award.

"Doordarshan has requested to send a video about the Prime Minister's request for Independence Day and I did. For national award? What an artistic valuation? (sarcasm). If pronouncing the Prime Minister's name ensures a national award, then everyone in a crowd chanting "Jai to Modiji" will be given a milestone award."

Lal Singh Chaddha also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan releases in theaters on August 11, 2022. Advance bookings for the Tamil dubbed version of the movie are currently open all over Tamil Nadu.
