Actor-composer GV Prakash Kumar praised debutant director Maria Raja Elanchezhian at the pre-release event of Happy Raj, calling him a “fearless” filmmaker with strong clarity and conviction.
Speaking about his experience, GV Prakash said he immediately agreed to the film due to the director’s confident approach. He added that Happy Raj carries a breezy, youthful energy, drawing a comparison to his earlier film Trisha Illana Nayanthara, but without its adult content, making it suitable for all audiences.
The actor also highlighted the importance of actor-director synergy, noting that he experienced a similar comfort level working with Maria as he did with Adhik Ravichandran in the past.
GV Prakash further revealed that the film initially faced challenges in finding producers, but appreciated debut producers Jaivarda and Jaikanth Suresh for backing the project and ensuring a smooth production. He added that the film has already secured OTT and satellite deals, making it profitable ahead of release.
Happy Raj features a cast including Abbas, Sri Gouri Priya, George Maryan, Geetha Kailasam, Adhirchi Arun, Madurai Muthu, and Devi Mahesh.
Directed by Maria Raja Elanchezhian, the film has music by Justin Prabhakaran and is backed by Beyond Pictures. Happy Raj is set to release in theatres on March 27.
