Actor-politician Vijaykanth has been battling health issues for a while now and earlier today, an official statement from his Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) party revealed that three toes of Vijayakanth had to be operated and removed since the doctors said there is no streamlined circulation of blood to the toe region in the right leg. Vijaykanth's diabetes is said to have made matters worse and the operation was revealed to have taken place on Monday i.e. June 20, 2022.

In lieu of this unfortunate news, actor Rajinikanth who has always kept tabs on Vijayakanth's health has taken to Twitter to write, "I pray to Almighty God that my dear friend Vijayakanth should soon recover and roar as 'captain' like before."

DMDK's statement also said that Vijayakanth is likely to return home in a couple of days once the treatment is completed. It is worth mentioning here that Vijayakanth stepped back from acting in 2010 and has not been active in politics since 2016.
