Vithagan Preview
Vithagan, directed by R. Parthiban, will be releasing this Friday. The movie has been in the making since 2008 and will mark the 50th film of Parthiban. Parthiban acts as a police officer, who is crooked and cunning. The movie carries an innovative tagline 'With the gun'.
Strength
- National Award winning director Parthiban has made some thought provoking movies in the past.
- Milind Soman as villain arouses some curiosity.
- Solid technical team backed by M.S.Prabhu (Ayan Cinematographer) and Antony at the editing table.
- Joshua Sridhar's songs have the potential to click with picturization
Weakness
- Staying in the cans for a long time has given a stale feel
- Low expectations and lack of buzz about this movie points to a below average opening at the BO
Opportunity
- Vithagan being a solo release for this weekend and Diwali releases finally showing some signs of weariness, could work to its advantage. Vithagan has some chances if it can trigger exceptional word of mouth (MovieCrow rating of 70%+)
Threat
- Sandwiched between Velayudham/7am Arivu and Osthi/Mayakkam Enna is no fun. There is a risk of Vithagan staying on screens only for a week given the uphill battle of fighting against Osthe and Mayakkam Enna.
