It was during the promotions of his Tamil debut Spyder when Telugu actor Mahesh Babu first rekindled confirmation of him working with Baahubali director S.S. Rajamouli. Before that, Mahesh Babu had tweeted in 2010 about a possible team-up but that never happened.

The Mahesh Babu, Rajamouli movie has been expected since 2018 but only now fresh updates have started emerging. Rajamouli's trusted writer and father Vijayendra Prasad has said that he is penning an action-based adventure script for the duo.

The story is said to be based in Africa but full-fleged script work is expected to begin only after the release of Rajamouli's upcoming film RRR.
