As a COVID-19 relief plan for filmmakers this lockdown, Qube Cinema a leading digital service provider for movie theaters in India has announced a 50% discount in their Virtual Print Fee (VPF), a cost that has always been a point of debate among film producers for reasons like a) being exorbitant and b) on who should be paying it - them or theater owners.
The 50% discount is to be made on the current VPF for both DCI and E-Cinema and it will be applicable for a minimum billing of 7 shows. The discount which was announced on Wednesday is applicable till December 31, 2020 and Qube has added that VPF for library titles will be free and only delivery charges are applicable.

This move from Qube Cinema, which caters to majority of the screens in India comes at a time when the movie theater business is looking at luring back footfalls, especially with major holiday seasons approaching and recover from one of the worst revenue hits the business in India has seen.
