Lesser known Tamil films in Amazon

Relatively lesser known Tamil films in Amazon Prime from the recent past!

In the event that you have exhausted your movie options and are looking for something worthwhile, I have put together a list of Tamil films that might or might not work for you. But these are films that had me interested in one way or the other when I had caught up with them at the theatres. Not sure how they have aged but you can give them a try if you don't mind movies that might not work as a whole but have something interesting in them.

Vidiyum Mun (2013) | Streaming [Amazon Prime]

A terrific thriller that sucks you into its eerie ambience and I remember being blown away by it when I saw it in a theatre at the time of its release. It is said to be inspired by the movie London to Brighton but I haven't seen that film. I would easily recommend this film to anyone who hasn't heard of it.

Maayavan (2017) [Amazon Prime]

This is a film that is letdown by some middling execution and rather ordinary performances but has a knockout conceit and an interesting screenplay.

Ghazi (2017) [Amazon Prime]

Telugu audiences would be more familar with this film but in case you had missed it, this is an engaging underwater war actioner that is right on the money.

Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren (2018) | [Amazon Prime]

This isn't a lesser known movie per se. This one was uniformly hated by the critics and audience alike. But for some reason I particularly enjoyed this zanny film. I wouldn't recommend this with confidence as I am really yet to find someone who enjoyed this film wholeheartedly but if you have time to kill and this might be the exact scenario you are in right now, give it a chance if you have a taste for the outlandish.

Adhe Kangal (2017) [Amazon Prime]

This is a reasonably well known film and also had a Telugu remake (Neevevaro). But it is a movie that you are likely to have missed. It isn't a nail biting thriller but has you adequately engaged with a fine performance from Sshivada.

Chennai 2 Singapore (2018)

I don't really recall this as a good watch as I think the film sort of fizzled out. But I do recollect that it had its moments and a wonderful soundtrack from Ghibran.

Oru Kuppai Kadhai (2018) [Amazon Prime]

Oru Kuppai Kathai comes across as a credible attempt to tell an important tale. But the amateurish treatment and performance at many places keeps pulling it back. But nevertheless it does make an emotional connect.

Gangs of Madras (2019) [Amazon Prime]

This violent revenge drama is more intense than affecting. The USP of the film is having a woman at the centre of all this violence.

Malai Nerathu Mayakkam (2016) [Amazon Prime]

One of those rare Tamil films that talked about marital rape. An intriguing watch but with its fair share of contrivances to make it all end well. You might like this film or hate it to the core but it does leave you with an impact for a while.
