'No Memory of Working With Kamal Haasan', says Fatima Sana Shaikh

Ever since Fatima Sana Shaikh became a well-known-name from Dangal, it has been a known fact that the actress has made several appearances in films as a child artiste, early one of them being Kamal Haasan's Chachi 420. In a recent interview, Fatima who has since appeared in Thugs of Hindostan and is expecting the release of Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari and Ludo opened up about her most prominent role as a child-actor.

 

I have no memory of that time when I worked with Kamal sir and Tabu ma’am. I just know that as a child, it all comes from the heart and is natural.", said the 28 year old who was only 5 when Chachi 420 was filmed. In her previous recollections of the film though Shaikh had said,

 

"The first time I ever faced the camera was for Chachi 420..I was five at the time of shooting was just happy to be on a holiday with my family in Madras..I remember being pampered a lot by everyone on the set, including Kamal Haasan sir and Tabu..

 

We were filming the court scene on my first day and Kamal sir told me where to look and what my expression should be like. I had to cry and then smile when he gestured me to..Back then, I just wanted to enjoy whatever was happening and then go out to play."

 

In Kamal Haasan-directed Chachi 420, Fatima played the role of his and Tabu's daughter Bharti. A remake of the 1993 Hollywood film Mrs Doubtfire, Chachi 420 was made in Tamil as Avvai Shanmugi and had garnered both critical and commercial acclaim.
